Volunteering opportunities

As Dance to Health grows and develops we are recruiting volunteers to help run local groups. Could you be the person we’re looking for? Or why not pass on the information to someone you know who would be a great asset to the Dance to Health family? 

Dance to Health volunteer roles

Committee Members

We need Dance to Health Committees to help to run the groups, manage finances, make decisions, fundraise and help to spread the word.  You can be a committee member whether or not you take part in the dance sessions, but you need to have time to commit to volunteering. You could be a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer or assist with fundraising or the social activities for the group. Training and support, including role sharing and shadowing, is available to any who would like to take on a committee role.

Dance Support Volunteers

If you are aged 18 - 50 years old, and have good spatial awareness and fitness with a background in sports, dance or movement you can volunteer to assist our dance artists in sessions. You will receive training to work effectively with our dance artists and need to commit to regularly attending the session you support. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills.

Peer Motivators

Dance to Health Peer Motivators are people aged over 50 with an enthusiasm for dance and movement who participate in the dance sessions, offering encouragement and support to other group members. You will receive full training and need to be fit enough to take part in Dance to Health sessions.


Everyone needs a friend, to encourage and support. As a Buddy you will be matched with someone in the class to offer encouragement and regular contact. You don’t need to attend the classes yourself but just be there as a friendly ear to take a keen interest.

Each volunteer role is supported by a Handbook, Guidance Notes, training and the local coordinators and national Volunteer Coordinator who are here at Dance to Health to support all our volunteers.

If there is anything that might prevent you from volunteering, please get in touch and we can talk about how we can help. We offer role sharing and shadowing as well as occasional volunteer tasks rather than specific volunteer roles. We aim to make volunteering with Dance to Health is as flexible and accessible as we can.

Please note that Dance to Health sessions take place in the morning or afternoon, so if you wish to volunteer as a Dance Support Volunteer or Peer Motivator you need to be able to attend sessions during the day.
