Participants at the three Sheffield Dance to Health groups (Fir Vale, Stocksbridge and St Augustine’s) chose to celebrate their move towards becoming sustainable groups by taking part in Chance to Dance, which took place throughout Sheffield City Centre on Saturday 29 June.
The groups came together for a joint public performance where members of the public could also join in.
Everyone has been rehearsing Lucy Haighton, Adele Wragg and Charlotte Armitage’s choreography since early June. It was a great showcase for Dance to Health in Sheffield and we were privileged to have been selected to take part in the festival this year.
An audience member said, “Anything that can convince me to dance in a public place must be a great model. The accessibility of the steps was great and the enthusiasm of the leaders and participants was inspiring.”
Dance to Health Local Coordinator Jenny Johnson said, ‘I have been lucky enough to see all three groups rehearsing and it was brilliant to see it all come together on Saturday particularly as we had wonderful sunny weather – it hasn’t felt right dancing to ‘We’re Walking On Sunshine’ these past few weeks!”
A big thank you to the Dance Artists, Peer Motivator volunteers and participants for all their hard work to create this memorable performance. And congratulations Sheffield on becoming sustainable groups!
